Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026. Tidyfield Compare is made by Tidyfield, which is run by an independent developer ("we"). Contact: [email protected].
What Tidyfield Compare does with your spreadsheets
Nothing leaves your computer. The add-in reads the open workbook through Excel's add-in interface and reads any file you choose directly in the task pane. The comparison runs there. We do not operate a server that receives workbook contents, and the add-in has no analytics or tracking.
The free online compare tool at /compare/ works the same way: the files you drop are read by JavaScript in your browser and are never uploaded.
The only network requests
- Loading the add-in's code from our website, like any web page. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may log standard request data such as IP address and user agent for security and traffic purposes.
- Licence checks. When you activate a key and about once a week afterwards, the add-in sends the licence key and a short device name (for example "Tidyfield Compare on MacIntel") to our licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy, to confirm the key is valid. No workbook data is included.
- Loading Microsoft's Office JavaScript library from Microsoft's CDN, which every Office add-in requires.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, the product bought and the licence key so we can provide support and refunds. We keep this for as long as you have a licence and for tax records as required by law.
Support email
If you email support, we keep the correspondence and any files you choose to send for up to two years, only to help you.
Data stored on your device
The add-in stores your options, trial start date and licence key in the browser storage of the Office add-in runtime on your device, and the previous cell colours of highlighted cells inside the workbook itself (so Clear can restore them). Remove the add-in to delete the former; use Clear to remove the latter.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete the purchase and support records we hold about you at [email protected]. EU and UK residents may also complain to their data protection authority.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above.
